About me
I am a disabled and disability artist based in Llanfair Caereinion, Montgomeryshire, Mid-Wales. I have had no formal art training, but instead experiment with ideas and materials and take an instinctive approach. I am an abstract artist and enjoy working in a variety of media. I am developing my work in mixed media, using reclaimed and recycled materials. Much of my work explores disability issues. In the current political climate, disabled people are increasingly demonised, oppressed and excluded, and I feel that it is important that disability artists are a voice for disabled people in these strange and troubled times. I also often explore social and environmental issues. I use the artist name Ceridwen Powell to reflect my adopted Welshness, and am inspired by the colours and shapes of the beautiful Montgomeryshire landscape, and Celtic myths and legends.
I am also developing my 3D work in clay, wire and mixed media sculptures.
'Bottles And Fruit', watercolour on paper.
